Mesh Retrofit Rebate Wildfire Resilient Home Improvement Rebate Program

As of June 22, 2026 and until June 21, 2027 or funding is exhausted.

Objective: Encourage homeowners to make home hardening improvements to enhance the resilience of their properties against natural disasters, specifically wildfires. If you are interested, please fill out this form and someone will be in touch.

Details:

• Sponsor: Sponsored by the Escondido Fire Safe Council (FSC) and grants from The San Diego Regional Fire Foundation.

• Eligibility: The rebate program is available exclusively to property owners in the Escondido city limits.

• Eligible Improvements: The program focuses on ember-resistant vents.

• Rebate Coverage: The rebate will cover up to 50% of the total cost of eligible home hardening improvements, up to a max of $425 per house.

• Funding: Reimbursements will be provided until the allocated program funds are exhausted.

• Supplier Approval:

  • The FSC must approve all suppliers and materials used for the improvements.

  • The FSC will provide a list of suggested suppliers.

  • Homeowners can propose alternative suppliers and contractors, subject to FSC approval.

• Documentation Required: Homeowners must submit a paid invoice for the completed work and expenses.

• Deadline: This offer expires 3/1/2026 or when funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.

• Before and After pictures are encouraged.

Eligibility & Process:

1. Wildfire Risk Mitigation Agreement:

   • Homeowners must sign a Wildfire Risk Mitigation Agreement, available from any Escondido Fire Safe Council committee board member.

2. Submission of Invoice:

   • Submit the paid invoice and description of the work to the Escondido Fire Safe Council. info@escondidofsc.com

3. Review Process:

   • The FSC will review the invoice and work description to ensure they meet the Wildfire Prevention program requirements.

4. Reimbursement:

   • Upon verification, the program will reimburse the homeowner up to 50% of the total cost of eligible improvements (max per house of $425), subject to the availability of funds.
